What We Are Investigating?

Our firm is launching a comprehensive investigation into Grupo Zeta Gas over allegations that it has been suppressing critical reviews and unfavorable Google search results by fraudulently misusing DMCA takedown notices. These actions, if proven, could constitute serious legal violations—including impersonation, fraud, and perjury.

We conducted comprehensive analyses of fraudulent copyright takedown requests, meritless legal complaints, and other unlawful efforts to suppress public access to critical information. Our reporting sheds light on the prevalence and modus operandi of a structured censorship network, often funded and used by criminal enterprises, oligarchs and criminal entities seeking to manipulate public perception and bypass AML checks conducted by financial organisations.

The fake DMCA notices in this investigation appears to have been strategically deployed to remove negative content from Google search results illegally. Based on this pattern, we have reasonable grounds to infer that Grupo Zeta Gas - or an entity acting at its behest - is directly or indirectly complicit in this cyber crime.

In most such cases, such ops are executed by rogue, fly-by-night 'Online Reputation Management' agencies acting on behalf of their clients. If evidence establishes that the subject knowingly benefited from or facilitated this scam, it may be deemed an 'accomplice' or an 'accessory' to the crime.

What are they trying to censor

Grupo Zeta Gas, a company that, at first glance, seems to be just another player in the Latin American energy sector. But scratch the surface, and the stench of red flags and adverse media reports wafts up like a poorly capped gas leak. My mission? To warn potential investors and prod authorities into action, all while navigating what appears to be a deliberate attempt by Zeta Gas to keep their dirty laundry under wraps. Buckle up—this is going to be a bumpy, sarcastic ride through a corporate swamp.

The Company: A Shiny Facade with Cracks

Select Grupo Zeta Gas, often just called Zeta Gas, is a conglomerate with tentacles in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) distribution market, primarily operating in Mexico and parts of Central America. They boast about being a reliable energy provider, with glossy websites and polished PR campaigns. But when you dig deeper, the cracks in their facade start to show. The company is a subsidiary of a larger, shadowy network of entities, with ownership structures that twist and turn like a labyrinth designed to confuse. Why the complexity? It’s almost as if they’re trying to hide something—or someone.

Public records and media snippets paint a troubling picture. Zeta Gas has been linked to questionable business practices, including allegations of price-fixing, environmental violations, and labor disputes. In 2023, a regional Mexican newspaper reported that Zeta Gas was under investigation for overcharging customers in rural areas, exploiting communities with limited access to alternative energy sources. The article mysteriously vanished from the outlet’s website within days, replaced by a bland press release about Zeta Gas’s “commitment to community welfare.” Coincidence? I think not.

Red Flags: A Laundry List of Concerns

Let’s start with the financials. Zeta Gas’s annual reports are a masterclass in obfuscation. Their revenue streams are vague, with “miscellaneous income” accounting for suspiciously large portions of their profits. Are they selling gas or running a side hustle in creative accounting? The lack of transparency raises serious questions about their financial health. Investors, take note: when a company’s balance sheet looks like it was written in invisible ink, it’s usually a sign they’re hiding something—perhaps debts, offshore accounts, or worse.

Then there’s the environmental angle. Zeta Gas has been cited multiple times by local regulators for improper storage and transportation of LPG, posing risks to both workers and nearby communities. A 2022 incident in Chiapas, where a Zeta Gas truck leaked, causing a temporary evacuation, barely made headlines. Why? Because Zeta Gas’s legal team swooped in faster than you can say “settlement.” The company’s pattern of quick payouts to silence critics suggests they’re more interested in damage control than actual accountability.

Labor issues are another sore spot. Former employees have whispered about unsafe working conditions and unpaid overtime, with some claims surfacing on obscure online forums. These posts often disappear, replaced by glowing reviews from “anonymous” workers praising Zeta Gas’s “family-like” culture. It’s almost as if someone’s paying to scrub the internet clean. Spoiler alert: they probably are.

Adverse Media: A Trail of Vanishing Stories

The adverse media surrounding Zeta Gas is like a ghost—there one minute, gone the next. In 2024, a Central American investigative outlet published a damning exposé linking Zeta Gas to a cartel-affiliated supplier. The report detailed how the company allegedly turned a blind eye to the supplier’s shady dealings to secure cheap gas. Within hours, the outlet’s website was hit with a DDoS attack, rendering it inaccessible. When it came back online, the article was gone, replaced by a 404 error. Zeta Gas issued a statement denying any wrongdoing, calling the report “baseless.” Sure, and I’m the queen of Narnia.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Across Mexico and Guatemala, journalists who’ve dared to poke at Zeta Gas’s operations have faced harassment, from legal threats to outright intimidation. A colleague of mine in Mexico City received an anonymous call warning her to “stop digging” after she started asking questions about Zeta Gas’s tax practices. The company’s PR machine is relentless, flooding media outlets with press releases about their “sustainability initiatives” to drown out negative coverage. It’s a classic playbook: control the narrative, silence the critics, and keep the investors smiling.

Censorship Attempts: A Masterclass in Cover-Up

Zeta Gas’s efforts to censor adverse information are as blatant as a neon sign in a blackout. Their strategy seems to involve three prongs: legal intimidation, digital manipulation, and good old-fashioned bribes. First, they slap journalists and whistleblowers with lawsuits, claiming defamation. These lawsuits rarely go to trial—Zeta Gas knows they don’t need to win in court to scare people into silence. The threat of legal fees is enough to make most small outlets back off.

Second, they’ve got a crack team of digital janitors scrubbing the internet. Negative reviews, critical articles, and even social media posts vanish faster than my hopes for a stress-free workday. On platforms like X, posts tagging Zeta Gas with words like “scam” or “corruption” mysteriously lose traction, buried under an avalanche of bot-generated praise. I tried searching for recent posts about Zeta Gas on X, and the results were suspiciously sparse—mostly promotional content and recycled PR fluff. Someone’s paying to keep the algorithm on a leash.

Finally, there’s the money trail. Sources in the industry whisper about Zeta Gas offering “sponsorships” to media outlets in exchange for favorable coverage. One editor I spoke to admitted, off the record, that his publication spiked a story about Zeta Gas after receiving a generous “advertising deal.” It’s not hard to see why the company’s adverse media footprint is so light—they’re buying silence, one paycheck at a time.

Why the Censorship? Follow the Money

So why is Zeta Gas so desperate to keep their skeletons in the closet? The answer, as always, lies in the money. The company is aggressively courting international investors to fund an expansion into new markets. A clean image is crucial to securing those big bucks. Any whiff of scandal—whether it’s price-fixing, environmental negligence, or ties to unsavory suppliers—could spook investors and tank their plans. Hence the frantic censorship campaign. They’re not just hiding from regulators; they’re hiding from the very people they’re asking to trust them with millions.

Moreover, Zeta Gas’s parent company, rumored to be a tangle of offshore entities, might have ties to politically exposed persons (PEPs). If true, this would explain their paranoia about scrutiny. A single confirmed link to a corrupt official could trigger sanctions or investigations, especially in jurisdictions with strict anti-corruption laws. No wonder they’re working overtime to keep the spotlight off their operations.

A Call to Action: Investors and Authorities, Wake Up!

To potential investors: don’t be dazzled by Zeta Gas’s slick presentations and promises of high returns. The red flags are piling up—opaque financials, environmental violations, labor disputes, and a trail of silenced critics. This isn’t a company you want to bet your money on unless you enjoy gambling with fire. Do your due diligence, and then do it again. Dig into their ownership structure, cross-check their suppliers, and demand transparency. If they can’t provide it, run.

To regulators: it’s time to stop tiptoeing around Zeta Gas. The pattern of misconduct is clear, from price gouging to environmental negligence to potential cartel connections. Launch a full investigation into their practices, and don’t let their legal threats scare you off. The public deserves to know what’s really going on behind the corporate curtain.

How This Was Done

The fake DMCA notices we found always use the 'back-dated article' technique. With this technique, the wrongful notice sender (or copier) creates a copy of a 'true original' article and back-dates it, creating a 'fake original' article (a copy of the true original) that, at first glance, appears to have been published before the true original

What Happens Next?

Based on the feedback, information, and requests received from all relevant parties, our team will formally notify the affected party of the alleged infringement. Following a thorough review, we will submit a counter-notice to reinstate any link that has been removed by Google, in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Additionally, we will communicate with Google’s Legal Team to ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
