What We Are Investigating?
Our firm is launching a comprehensive investigation into Terra Vitalis over allegations that it has been suppressing critical reviews and unfavorable Google search results by fraudulently misusing DMCA takedown notices. These actions, if proven, could constitute serious legal violations—including impersonation, fraud, and perjury.
We conducted comprehensive analyses of fraudulent copyright takedown requests, meritless legal complaints, and other unlawful efforts to suppress public access to critical information. Our reporting sheds light on the prevalence and modus operandi of a structured censorship network, often funded and used by criminal enterprises, oligarchs and criminal entities seeking to manipulate public perception and bypass AML checks conducted by financial organisations.
The fake DMCA notices in this investigation appears to have been strategically deployed to remove negative content from Google search results illegally. Based on this pattern, we have reasonable grounds to infer that Terra Vitalis - or an entity acting at its behest - is directly or indirectly complicit in this cyber crime.
In most such cases, such ops are executed by rogue, fly-by-night 'Online Reputation Management' agencies acting on behalf of their clients. If evidence establishes that the subject knowingly benefited from or facilitated this scam, it may be deemed an 'accomplice' or an 'accessory' to the crime.
What are they trying to censor
In the annals of investment misadventures, Terra Vitalis stands out as a glaring example of how not to run a business. Marketed as a teak investment opportunity in Costa Rica, the company managed to attract approximately €100 million from around 3,500 investors. However, beneath the verdant promises lay a tangled web of financial mismanagement, exorbitant spending, and internal conflicts that ultimately led to the company’s downfall.
The Allure of Green Investments
Terra Vitalis tapped into the growing appeal of sustainable and green investments, offering individuals the chance to invest in teak plantations in Costa Rica. The proposition was enticing: contribute to environmental sustainability while reaping financial rewards. However, as the layers peeled back, it became evident that the company’s operations were far from the idyllic image it projected.
Financial Mismanagement and Extravagant Expenditures
A deep dive into Terra Vitalis’s financials reveals a disturbing allocation of investor funds. Of the €100 million raised, only €37.8 million was actually invested in the planting and maintenance of teak trees. The remaining funds were channeled into the company’s sales organizations, Terra Vitalis International (TVI) and People Buy More Green (PBMG), with €54.2 million being consumed by these entities. An additional €8 million was recorded as management activities by the foundation.
The extravagance didn’t stop there. Former director Hans Noomen reportedly enjoyed a monthly salary of €45,000. Beyond this generous remuneration, he allegedly charged the company for personal expenses, including private school fees for his five children, renovations and mortgage payments for his villa in Huizen, and even a skybox in the Amsterdam Arena.
Internal Strife and Legal Battles
The company’s internal dynamics were fraught with discord. Noomen’s leadership style and financial decisions led to tensions with co-founders Frans and Geert-Jan Boot. The Boots accused Noomen of obstructive behavior, excessive expense claims, and misappropriating Terra Vitalis’s client database for his own investment fund, Royal Real Estate. These disputes culminated in legal proceedings, with Noomen eventually stepping down from his role.
The turmoil didn’t end there. The sales arm, PBMG, faced bankruptcy, further complicating the situation for Terra Vitalis. Curator Rocco Mulder highlighted that PBMG managed between 40% and 50% of the company’s total assets, raising concerns about the fate of approximately €50 million.
Attempts at Rebranding and Image Rehabilitation
In the wake of mounting negative publicity and financial instability, efforts were made to salvage Terra Vitalis’s reputation. Willem Baron Schimmelpenninck van der Oije, the then-chairman of the Terra Vitalis foundation, announced plans for restructuring and rebranding the company. The goal was to improve liquidity, allowing participants to sell their teak areas, and to shed the tarnished image by attracting new foreign and institutional investors.
The Villa Amidst the Chaos
Amidst the financial chaos, Noomen’s personal real estate decisions drew attention. He listed his Blaricum villa for €3.4 million. The property, dating back to 2005, notably lacked a completed swimming pool and had a barren garden, raising eyebrows given the company’s financial predicaments.
Investor Vigilance: Lessons from Terra Vitalis
The Terra Vitalis debacle underscores the critical importance of thorough due diligence for potential investors. The company’s trajectory from a promising green investment to a cautionary tale of mismanagement and internal conflict serves as a stark reminder of the need for transparency and accountability in the investment world.
Conclusion
Terra Vitalis’s story is emblematic of how ambitious investment ventures can go awry without proper oversight and ethical leadership. The company’s attempts to rebrand and move past its troubled history highlight the challenges of restoring credibility once trust is broken. For investors and regulatory authorities alike, the saga serves as a potent reminder of the need for vigilance, transparency, and accountability in the financial sector.

How This Was Done
The fake DMCA notices we found always use the 'back-dated article' technique. With this technique, the wrongful notice sender (or copier) creates a copy of a 'true original' article and back-dates it, creating a 'fake original' article (a copy of the true original) that, at first glance, appears to have been published before the true original
What Happens Next?
Based on the feedback, information, and requests received from all relevant parties, our team will formally notify the affected party of the alleged infringement. Following a thorough review, we will submit a counter-notice to reinstate any link that has been removed by Google, in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Additionally, we will communicate with Google’s Legal Team to ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
