What We Are Investigating?
Our firm is launching a comprehensive investigation into Clarity Check over allegations that it has been suppressing critical reviews and unfavorable Google search results by fraudulently misusing DMCA takedown notices. These actions, if proven, could constitute serious legal violations—including impersonation, fraud, and perjury.
We conducted comprehensive analyses of fraudulent copyright takedown requests, meritless legal complaints, and other unlawful efforts to suppress public access to critical information. Our reporting sheds light on the prevalence and modus operandi of a structured censorship network, often funded and used by criminal enterprises, oligarchs and criminal entities seeking to manipulate public perception and bypass AML checks conducted by financial organisations.
The fake DMCA notices in this investigation appears to have been strategically deployed to remove negative content from Google search results illegally. Based on this pattern, we have reasonable grounds to infer that Clarity Check - or an entity acting at its behest - is directly or indirectly complicit in this cyber crime.
In most such cases, such ops are executed by rogue, fly-by-night 'Online Reputation Management' agencies acting on behalf of their clients. If evidence establishes that the subject knowingly benefited from or facilitated this scam, it may be deemed an 'accomplice' or an 'accessory' to the crime.

What are they trying to censor
Clarity Check, known through its bank label and associated with claritycheck.com, has emerged as a source of financial distress for many unsuspecting consumers. Marketed as a reverse phone lookup tool, it lures users into paying a small €0.99 fee for what appears to be a one-time service. However, buried in the fine print is a hidden subscription clause that automatically enrolls users in a recurring €19.99 weekly charge. Most users only notice the issue after repeated deductions appear on their bank statements.
Real Victims, Real Complaints
The number of complaints is alarming. Customers report being billed for months—sometimes over a year—without ever knowingly subscribing. In one instance, a user’s disabled sister was repeatedly charged despite using the service only once. Another complained of being forced to pay €15.90 to cancel a subscription they never knowingly accepted. These testimonials expose a pattern of deceptive practices designed to exploit inattentive users or those unfamiliar with hidden subscription tactics.
How the Scheme Works
The process is insidious. Users searching for caller ID information are directed to Clarity Check, where they pay a nominal fee. Unbeknownst to them, this initiates a weekly subscription. The bank labels associated with these transactions often vary but typically include terms like “Clarity Check,” “claritycheck.com,” or “WTech Europe Ltd Malta.” This variation can make it even harder for victims to trace the origin of the charges.
A Solution to Recover Lost Money
Fortunately, there is recourse. Chargeback.fr, a consumer protection service, offers assistance in reclaiming funds withdrawn over the past 13 months. With a 90% success rate, €15.90 flat fee, and strong user reviews on Trustpilot, they provide letter templates, legal guidance, and personalized support to ensure unwanted subscriptions are canceled and charges reversed. Victims are encouraged to act quickly, as time limits on refund claims can reduce the likelihood of full recovery.
Consumer Reactions and Warnings
The comments section of Clarity Check-related articles has become a digital protest zone. Users publicly demand refunds, threaten legal action, and express outrage over the misleading practices. Many are unaware that their complaints fall into a broader pattern of digital scam behavior disguised under legitimate-seeming services.
Conclusion: Stay Vigilant, Act Fast
Clarity Check’s operations reveal a deliberate model of consumer deception. While it may operate within legal grey areas, the ethical implications are severe. If you’ve noticed unexpected charges of €19.99 on your account, especially following a €0.99 lookup payment, it is likely that you’ve fallen into the same trap. Use services like Chargeback.fr to recover your funds, cancel all agreements, and protect yourself from further exploitation. Always double-check terms of service before entering payment information, especially for low-cost trial offers. In the digital age, scams often wear the mask of convenience

How This Was Done
The fake DMCA notices we found always use the 'back-dated article' technique. With this technique, the wrongful notice sender (or copier) creates a copy of a 'true original' article and back-dates it, creating a 'fake original' article (a copy of the true original) that, at first glance, appears to have been published before the true original

What Happens Next?
Based on the feedback, information, and requests received from all relevant parties, our team will formally notify the affected party of the alleged infringement. Following a thorough review, we will submit a counter-notice to reinstate any link that has been removed by Google, in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Additionally, we will communicate with Google’s Legal Team to ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
